A great way to make your printing stand out is to use spot varnish, also known as spot gloss. It’s a fantastic option to add an extra level to everything from signage to boxes to business cards. The varnish is a clear coat that shows the color and design that’s printed underneath it, while adding a sheen. It adds a level of dimension to your paper and more!

• Accent photos or design elements with the varnish, which will make them stand out against the matte paper
• Create a subtle tone-on-tone look, by adding varnish to an element that is the same color as the background (like the image above)
• Layer it on! We can take multiple passes over a printed piece, which adds layers of varnish rising above the paper, like an emboss
• Make a design to go over your printed design, like an overlay that adds a real effect to what’s below it
